What a way to light up an otherwise dull January and to get 2026 off to the best possible start? I hereby give you a very brief glimpse into an absolutely fabulous, fun and colourful wedding for these beautiful souls at @froyleparkcountryestate yesterday.

I still can’t get over just how amazing Lucy looked - made up beautifully by the wonderful @rachelmaslinmakeupartist and @charlottegiggshair and wearing her ‘Royal Garden Gown by @teutamatoshi - a dress Lucy chose long before even she and Sam got engaged!

'Alistair is a phenomenal photographer who captured our special day in Oct 2025 in style, at The Elvetham Hotel (he knows the venue exceptionally well). Perfect documentary style shots that we wanted, managed to make it feel effortless whilst guiding us to shots he knew would work well in the different lighting/background combinations. Nine and a HALF reasons why I always stay well BEYOND the 1st dance!
.
As a storytelling wedding photographer, one of the great travesties is only having a wedding day covered up to the first dance. The party hasn’t even hit full swing yet, and the day is far from over. We’re only on chapter seven of a ten-chapter story. Memories and moments are still very much in the making, and the story is yet to be fully told.
.
So when couples book my full-day coverage, I’m not there to pack up after the first dance. That’s not what I’m about.
.
There are so many compelling reasons to stay — specifically:
1. It’s only after the first dance that the party really LIFTS OFF and the moments start to flow. Perfect for those big, candid moments with all your guests.
2. This is the part of the day when most of the UNEXPECTED, unscripted moments happen — like the groom grabbing the mic and serenading his new wife. These are the moments I live for.
3. Sometimes it’s when the couple disappear… then surprise everyone with an OUTFIT CHANGE. I definitely want to capture that.
4. It takes a lot of BALLS, but this is when I love getting right into the heart of the dance floor to GRAB some proper action shots — the kind that will live on in your WhatsApp groups for years to come.
5. It’s when everyone really LETS THEIR HAIR DOWN… and sometimes their trousers too!
6. Because people expect photographers to leave after the first dance, guests relax more and DANCE LIKE NO ONE IS WATCHING.
Except they are. Me. 😄
7. In the height of summer, the best light of the day — GOLDEN HOUR — isn’t until well after the first dance. It’s the perfect excuse to step outside, catch your breath, and make something beautiful.
8. Many couples surprise their guests with FIREWORKS later in the evening. It’d be a shame not to capture those.
9. Between your band’s first and second sets is a brilliant time to sneak away for some romantic NIGHT-TIME PORTRAITS, beautifully contrasting with what we captured earlier in the day.
9… & a HALF! And finally — long after all that — it’s quite nice to ENJOY A CHEEKY HALF with the couple… or one or two of the guests.
