One of the most heart-warming things about this whole wedding photography adventure is when lovely acquaintances and friends you get to meet along the way suddenly pop up and ask you to photograph their wedding for them. This is exactly what happened with Sophie. I got to know her when she was working at Tylney Hall Hotel, always breaking into her lovely big smile every time I bumped into her when I was there either photographing a wedding or conducting a family shoot!

Sophie left Tylney a few years back but we kept in touch, mainly through Instagram, and I was delighted for her and Adam the day that they announced their engagement!

This is their story:

Q Describe Yourselves, or each other!

A We met whilst working together at Ashdown Park Hotel. We enjoy exploring new places, history, culture and trying new restaurants. We also enjoy the simple things such as reading together or watching a film.

Q How did you meet?

A We met over 4 years ago whilst Adam was a Demi Chef and I was a Management Trainee. We were both working on a big corporate event, I was helping run front of house and Adam was running the kitchen.

Q When and where did you get engaged? Who proposed? Any particular stories?

A Adam proposed to me after a day exploring Bristol, I had no idea was coming. We went for dinner and cocktails, Adam suggested a walk afterwards. We were walking over a bridge at sunset. I stood to take a picture, Adam said my name three times and when I turned around he was on one knee and asked me to marry him. He said it took a good 30 seconds before I realised what was happening and of course I said yes.

Q Are there any specific reasons you chose your wedding venues? Personal/family connections? The style? The vibe? The location?

A We are getting married at Southover Grange ( Lewes Registry Office) it is very pretty and charming. Their gardens are also full over flowers which goes with the theme we are trying to create. Our reception is taking place at Adams family home, we are creating an informal summer garden party. It will have a rustic / vintage feel to it and of course lots of flowers.
