Same Sex Couple Wedding at Mount Ephraim Country House & Gardens

Johnny & Matt – Same Sex Couple Wedding at Mount Ephraim Country House & Gardens

Ahh Johnny & Matt, what complete legends these two are! This day was everything (and more!) that it was cracked up to be, right from when Johnny enquired with me hot on the heals of Matt’s brother Will’s wedding that I had photographed earlier in 2022 (here’s Will and Amelia’s beautiful day).

Soon after a couple book me I send them a questionnaire to help me glean some info about them as a couple in order to try and get to know them a bit better ahead of their wedding. That way I often pick up some real nuggets that helps me to really capture their personalities and relationship together on the actual day itself. Upon receiving Johnny & Matt’s questionnaire back I’ve got to admit I laughed out loud to their response to ‘Describe yourselves’, which read as follows:

‘We often say that Johnny is the accelerator, Matt is the brake. Johnny is an outgoing extrovert, Matt is fairly reserved. Johnny is known for being a little bit of a tyrant, with Matt being one of the few people to put him in his place.’

And sure enough on the day itself evidence of this was in abundance all through the day and I remember Matt quite a few times referring to Johnny as a ‘little terror’! How I loved capturing the two of them together!

From Johnny & Matt:

“Alistair was a fantastic photographer at our wedding, and we’re so happy with how the photos turned out. Leading up to the event he was highly communicative, and on the day he managed to get great photos out of us and our guests with minimal distraction from our celebrations. The photos themselves are gorgeously composed and edited, and we’ll be looking back on these with fondness for many years to come.”

The wedding itself took place at the magnificent Mount Ephraim House and Gardens, a privately owned gem of a venue near the north Kent coastline (see drone photos below to see how close!). In fact Johnny always had a vision of Mount Ephraim being his fairytale wedding venue. With its scenic beauty, historic grandeur, versatile spaces, expert event management, and culinary excellence, I can definitely see why!

But the venue wasn’t the only thing that was a fairytale. Dressed in very stylish suits depicting the colours of their respective birthstones (aquamarine for Johnny and tourmaline for Matt) looked every bit the part as they laughed and danced the day away. And what a day it was, really loved it. Here’s the photos!
