Laura & James // Manor of Hurst Marquee Wedding
Laura & James’s Autumn Manor of Hurst Marquee Wedding
“Alistair was recommended to us by our venue and we honestly couldn’t be happier with our pictures. Not only were the pictures stunning, but he managed to capture the vibe of the day perfectly and was a pleasure to have at our day. Would highly recommend” Laura & James
SLIDESHOW HIGHLIGHTS
Sound on, make it BIG, Enjoy.
What a wedding with the sweetest story behind it (check out their story below). In planning their wedding Laura talked a lot about the ‘vibe’ that she wanted and in my experience a marquee wedding always offers up such a cool one! But the location, the wonderful, quintessentially English Manor of Hurst with the church (and pub!) nearby was always going to offer up so much more than that.
Unsurprisingly, this was one of THE most memorable weddings that I’ve had the privilege of capturing, one that Josh & I just couldn’t bring ourselves to leave. Below is their highlights slideshow and some of my favourite images from their day. But first, a little bit about them:
Q How did you meet?
A We met during the gap between the first two lockdowns at a “small gathering” that was organised by Laura’s flat mate in London. Laura was in the process of leaving London to move to her first bought house in Wokingham because she was fed up of the single dating life in London. As James lived in Sheffield they went on some virtual dates and two real life dates before we were locked down again. We decided “what the hell” and James moved in for then second lockdown (originally for four weeks) and never left. First Christmas spent together was just the two of them in Tier 4 Lockdown and here we are now …
Q When and where did you get engaged? Who proposed? Any particular stories?
A James proposed to Laura in the Lake District – it ended up being in our holiday cottage because the weather was HORRENDOUS the whole time and he was scared of dropping the ring at the top of the mountain. We also have two badly behaved dogs who wouldn’t have helped the moment feel relaxing or peaceful. James used to write Laura notes (all our dates where in lockdown so used to be in the house and he would start each evening with a note). He had collected them all and scattered them around the house with candles and proposed.
Q Are there any specific reasons you chose your wedding venues? Personal/family connections? The style? The vibe? The location?
A I love the style of the building and the feeling of countryside around it. Trees and leaves and being outside is my favourite and I loved the vibe of the Manor because of this. The tree lined ally between the church and the house really sold it to us!
Thank you,
