Colourful Devon Summer Marquee Wedding with Parsi Blessing
Izzy and Rustam’s Colourful Devon Summer Marquee Wedding with Parsi Blessing
I‘m guessing that you’ve seen ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’, right? Obviously you can put the funeral bit to one side and concentrate your mind on those weddings. Fun (and fun-ny), quirky, great characters, vibrant and just a full on, great vibe. Well, this was Izzy and Rustam’s awesome colourful summer marquee wedding set in the heart of the beautiful Devonian countryside.
Yes, this wedding had all the above with so many amazing moments being thrown up from start to finish which made my job as a documentary photographer so, so enjoyable. Seriously, my head was already buzzing from the moment Izzy’s enquiry came in (with her friend Amelia’s wedding that I photographed in 2022 having caught her eye) and quite frankly it was almost exploding by the time I made my way back up the A303 the day after their wedding! Their wonderful friends and families, fabulous locations, the kaleidoscope of colours adorning everything from the decorations to people’s outfits, those Land Rover wedding cars, the Parsi blessing, quaint little church full to the rafters, fabulous marquee overlooking Izzy’s uncle’s beautifully sculptured lawns and gardens – right through to the very funny speeches (with Rustam’s Urology surgeon occupation providing most of the material!). All a documentary photographer’s absolute dream!
From Izzy & Rustam:
“If I could give 10 stars on a google review I definitely would!
I would recommend Alistair to any family or friends who ask for a photographer for an event. He was so much fun to with – both on the actual day of our wedding but also in the lead up.
Alistair is incredibly organised – he replies to emails prompty, and is very proactive at coordinating meetings (a huge help when you have a million things on your mind in the run up to a big day). On the actual day of our wedding we had so much fun with him – he is really relaxed, but also knows how to grab people at the right moment and coordinate large groups. He was also able to get some great photos in the torrential rain – definitely a testament to his skill as a photographer! Thank you Alistair !!”
And to think that in the days running up to the wedding it looked as though it was going to disappear under a deluge of the monsoon-like weather that gripped most of the UK! You’ll notice that we had some pretty wild weather on the actual day as well with veils and hats sent flying and water coming up through the dance floor. But hey, it only served to make those smiles even bigger and the rainbow that arched over the marquee even brighter!
Anyway, put the kettle on and immerse yourself in some of my favourite photos from their day.
