2021. My 10th year of Wedding Photography
Beautiful Wedding Photography in Hampshire and Beyond.
Celebrating TEN fabulous years in Wedding Photography. Here’s my fondest memories and favourite moments from 2021
Well, here it is…my collection of ‘favourite’ images from the year just gone.
It’s always a tricky one….on SO MANY LEVELS! First and foremost it’s the sheer volume. Not a single wedding goes past where at least one of the guests doesn’t ask me ‘how many photos do you think you’ve taken today then’? Of course thousands is the answer. After all, as a documentary wedding photographer it’s all about the beautiful (and / or hilarious!), story-telling moments that I’m after and not just the set pieces. Anyway, multiply those ‘thousands’ by 40 odd weddings and you start to get an idea as to the task in hand.
But also, as a professional wedding photographer should I even have favourites? It’s definitely contentious to pick out favourite couples…and I wouldn’t want to. After all anyone that invites me in on one of the biggest days of their lives are utter legends and I’ve recently run a series on Instagram celebrating all those couples. Capturing a wedding goes far beyond just the couples themselves. To use a cliche…It’s about the story of their day. Therefore what I’m talking about here are my favourite moments. But still, how can I even do that – i.e. favour moments from one wedding over another? Well this is where I’m a lucky boy. You see yes, on the one hand this is certainly my living (hence the use of the word ‘professional’), but much more than that it’s my hobby. My passion. My mojo provider. So absolutely, with all that pride and energy spurring me on to ‘nail it’ in terms of the people, the light and the moment in front of me I’m definitely going to end up with some stand out faves. Those that will bring back the fondest memories and that I will be showing off to my Grandchildren at some point down the line, God willing.
So, here they are…my favourite 100+ wedding images from across 2021. I aimed to keep it to exactly one hundred but failed abysmally. You see 2021 was a blockbuster. Against the backdrop of postponed weddings from the year before together with the weddings that everyone was just so relieved could happen at the 1st time of asking, the moments and the sheer beauty were all seemingly super fuelled by everyone’s determination to just have a bloody good time and to celebrate coming together. To celebrate the moment. To celebrate life.
And for me, in the blur of it all I would occasionally remember that it was my 10th anniversary year. Ten whole years since I said ‘sod it’ to corporate life and set off to live in, and to capture, real life. Ten whole years of being grateful to all my clients, my awesome second photographers, the fabulous suppliers and venues that I absolutely love working with and last but by no means least. TO. MY. FAMILY.
So here’s to all of them and to another jam-packed year of weddings in 2022.
